    Presentation

This UC has as main objective to complement the training started in Cellular Biology I, as well as to serve as introduction to UCs such as Human Genetics, Pharmacognosy and Molecular Biology. This allows a better integration between the UCs.

  • Objectives

    Objectives

After attending this CU, the student should have a broad vision of biological diversity as a source for new pharmaceutical products as well basic notions of histology and development. In practical, special attention is given to plants a source of new molecules with pharmacological interest. For this reason the main families that include plants with pharmaceutical interest are presented and explored. The student should know some extraction, isolation and analysis methods of such compounds as well as a list of cell biology techniques. Respiration and photosynthesis mechanisms are explore in depth, and plant and animal histology and development are introduced. The mechanisms of heredity and the analysis of pedigrees are also taught.
  • Teaching methodologies and assessment
