Presentation
The dissertation seeks to provide students with the ability to use research and planning procedures and techniques of investigation and planning, with scientific rigour and seriousness, and, simultaneously, stimulate the need to discuss scientific methods. According to these assumptions, a systematic and complete work on a particular subject should be performed with detailed treatment and an extensive range. The realisation of the research paper requires achieving bibliographical research that will define the rational theoretical work, the definition of a method, data collection, the analysis of the results, a discussion supported by theoretical rationale, and a conclusion.

Objectives
Objectives
To develop skills, abilities, and knowledge for the autonomous production of scientific research in Athletic Training - Training the Young Sportsperson. To reach these goals, the student should: (i) develop literature research skills and writing skills to produce the rationale that supports the dissertation topic; (ii) know the literature databases that index papers on the field and learn how to conduct a systematic literature review; (iii) develop skills, abilities, and knowledge on how to elaborate a study objective, and how to make methodological decisions about their study project; (iv) collect and analyse data, with adequate statistical procedures; and (v) master the techniques of scientific communication, namely through the production of two manuscripts (one systematic literature review and an empirical study) and their submission to journals and conferences.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies and assessment
Weekly meetings are scheduled with the supervisors and can occur individually or in seminars. The 3 phases allow, with progressive complexity and depth, the development and intermediate formative evaluation of the work. The evaluation conferences allow for this intermediate formative evaluation and work as milestones. The final evaluation is done with a jury of at least three members. It includes a 20-minute oral presentation, followed by 60 minutes of questioning from the jury, with this time equally divided between the student’s answers and jury questions. The classifications are calculated through the following: 35% by the process of developing the dissertation and 65% by the quality of the dissertation document, with the following criteria: >18 values, if ready for a journal with an IF>1; 17-18 values if prepared for a journal IF<1; 15-16 values if ready for a journal indexed;<15 values if ready for journal non-indexed.
