These assets and relatedissues are protected and governed by industrial property law, such as the patent, design and trademark regimes. In theEuropean territory, intellectual property is a growing field for European directives and regulations, since the titulalityand protection of industrial property rights interfere with the functioning of the common market. This course will dealwith national IP law and the system of European harmonisation of IP law in the fields of patents, designs andtrademarks. Teaching methodologies and assessment
Teaching methodologies and assessment
The course is not intended to be a personal monologue from the teacher. During the lessons students are encouragedto ask questions, give their opinions on relevant issues and participate in class. The presentation of assignments isalso a key element of learning. Attendance of seminars on a regular and continuous basis is highly recommended. Thisis really important for good knowledge acquisition and good results at the end. The assessment of the students is based on the oral and written presentation of a paper on a given subject. A list ofsuggestions will be available but students may choose a different subject. The teacher will be available to discuss thechoice of topic. Assessment can also be made by a final examination.
