Candidates eligible for the Master's degree program in Economics are: a) Holders of a bachelor's degree or equivalent in the fields of Economics, Management, or Business Sciences. b) Holders of a foreign academic degree awarded following a 1st cycle of studies organized according to the principles of the Bologna process by a participating country in the same fields. c) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree recognized as meeting the objectives of a bachelor's degree by the competent statutory body. d) Individuals with an educational, scientific, or professional background recognized by the competent statutory body of CUL as demonstrating the capacity to pursue this course of study. Selection criteria: 50% previous academic performance 30% curriculum assessment 20% Interview For candidates without a previous degree or without a grade for the previous degree, the following criteria apply: 50% curriculum assessment 50% Interview

Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired
The 2nd cycle in Economics focus on developing the following abilities and skills among our students: acquisition of knowledge and capacity for understanding further modified in relation to acquired in a cycle, which form thebasis of an original scientific research, application of knowledge and of comprehension and problem solving in new situations, in broad contexts and disciplines, ability to integrate knowledge ability to handle complex problems in situations of limited information and develop solutions, ability to communicate their conclusions clearly; acquisition competency to enable lifelong learning independently. The teaching methodologies are developed in order to enable the achievement of the binomial acquisition of knowledge / skills by students with a high degree of autonomy on their part. The main elements that make up the methodological approach are: Lectures and practical classes taught by qualified teachers with a doctoral degree obtained and Portuguese and foreign universities; Teaching not based on mere memorization of the material and, therefore, based on: Recent literature and diverse students should consult with a critical perspective, therefore, in every discipline there will be a text only desirable but a diversity of them properly ranked in order of relative importance; Completion of work on the implementation / research undertaken by students to be presented and discussed in class with the teacher and other colleagues in terms of content or form, and relevant to the final grade in the discipline, encouraging yourself and valuing autonomy of thought and critical substantiated; Conducting field work collecting and processing data for the purpose of studying issues that have been established within the respective work of learning; Use of computer equipment, both hardware and software for simulating the execution of professional performances whose principal aim is to learn to do, applying the knowledge imparted in the classroom and helping the full understanding of these, are also relevant to the final grade; In addition to the foregoing in b) and c) the written assessment will also contain at least one essay question ("essay questions") where students must disclose their autonomous capacity analysis as well as its ability to convey information, ideas, problems and solutions. Measuring the degree of fulfillment of the objectives is necessarily made in the student's thesis defense.
