Within the scope of this Curricular Unit the student must: - Understand and substantiate an integrative perspective of Athletics in the subjects of School Physical Education, in the various degrees of education, ages and levels of development and execution of students. - Conceive and carry out observation and analysis plans for learning situations in different athletics disciplines. - Develop proposals for Teaching Units, considering Athletics as a contributing element to the unity and coherence of the defined objectives.

Syllabus
1. Critical analysis of athletics for children and youth practitioners; 2. Athletics in the Physical Education and School Sports program; the three levels of specialization of each subject; 3. Planning and organizing the teaching-learning process. The subjects and the Didactic Unit; 4. Athletics in the different stages of sports training; 5. Meaning, learning and improvement of techniques in Athletics; objectives and conditions of achievement. 6. Observation, evaluation and intervention; 7. Pedagogical practice; elaboration, execution and critical analysis of lesson plans.

Objectives
Interpret the technique of each athletic discipline as an expression of individual capabilities while respecting regulations, biomechanical principles and defined objectives. Design and carry out teaching units and observation plans, integrating the diverse subjects of athletics. Understand and integrate Athletics subjects in the organization and global planning of School Physical Education, namely in the fulfillment of one of the main objectives: the improvement of physical fitness.
