1. The current state of knowledge in the areas of Physical Education and Sports: a. Research in the teaching of Physical Education and Sports; b. Research in Sports Sciences – Sports Training. 2. Research methods in Physical Education and Sports: a. Indexed information sources. b. The preparation of scientific projects: i. Rationale, definition of the objective, and method; ii. Preparation of projects for funding institutions. c. Project implementation: i. Control of processes and resources. d. Project evaluation and final products: i. Data analysis and results; ii. Discussion of the results; iii. Publication in indexed journals; iv. Dissemination of results to the community/society.

Objectives
At the end of the curricular unit students: - identify the different research models, as well as describe the ontological and epistemological premises associated with the positivist, interpretive and critical models in pedagogical research. - know the theoretical bases associated with the different research paradigms on the teaching of Physical Education and sport, namely: the process-product paradigm; the paradigm of mediating processes according to a positivist and cognitive perspective; the teacher / trainer thinking and acting paradigm; and the ecological paradigm. - know the problems, procedures and methodologies for collecting and processing data specific to each of the research paradigms in the teaching of Physical Education and Sport. - Know the possibilities, trends and limitations of research in sports training, from training to high performance.

Teaching methodologies and assessment
When presenting the research lines of the teachers, the aim is to create a close connection with the pre-projects that will be developed in the 2nd semester UC. By creating several moments for presenting and pitching ideas, students are given the opportunity to consolidate or rethink their pre-projects.
