New Sustainable Measures Implemented at ULusófona
Canteens adopt ecological practices in water distribution and laboratories introduce innovative technologies to save water resources

Lusófona University has reinforced its commitment to sustainability by introducing new measures in the canteens and laboratories on campus, focused on preserving water resources and reducing the use of plastic. These initiatives aim not only to reduce drinking water consumption, but also to sensitise the academic community to the importance of saving natural resources.
A more sustainable water distribution system has been implemented in the campus canteens by providing drinking water dispensers and jugs. These are available to students at no extra cost, allowing them to refill their reusable containers throughout the day. This measure promotes water saving, but also contributes to reducing the consumption of plastic bottles, in line with good environmental practice.
In the laboratories, Universidade Lusófona invested in the acquisition of a state-of-the-art rotary evaporator, which stands out for not needing a continuous connection to a water source for its operation. This equipment, used both in classes and in research projects, enables significant savings in drinking water, minimising waste in laboratories and, consequently, on campus.
These initiatives underline Lusófona University's commitment to the efficient management of natural resources and to raising awareness among the academic community of the need to adopt more sustainable practices. By addressing issues such as water saving management, water quality and water treatment, the University contributes to the training of aware citizens who are prepared to face the environmental challenges of the future.
