Lusófona University of Lisbon has created, in partnership with the professors and students from the Video Games course, a workshop dedicated to researching and producing accessible resources for people with disabilities. It is physically based at LabTec – the Prototyping and "Digital Fabrication" Laboratory of ULHT.

OPERAT, led by Professor José Neves, the coordinator responsible for Interaction Design and Art, and Professor Carla Sousa, who is responsible for accessibility strategies, academic dissemination, and results evaluation, aims to develop content to support cognitive stimulation and promote well-being for people with specific needs. By creating digital games and tangible resources, the workshop seeks to contribute to diversifying accessible resources for people with disabilities, with the help of Lusófona University students and anyone else willing to assist.

Video game students, with contributions from Hernani Pawlick and the project coordinators, develop video games from scratch in cooperation with partner institutions in the field of intellectual disabilities. Meanwhile, the LabTec team – João Maia, João Frade, Sara Vaz, and Joana Mendes – develops resources from scratch and provides technical and conceptual support for the production of tangible prototypes by CICANT researchers and external collaborators.

The OPERAT team relies on contributions from students, professors, researchers, and the general public to expand and shape this charitable project. At the moment, it has an online website, where it is possible to download the games produced and learn more about the project.
