A Road for Adaptation of Bridges to Climate Change - Report
Understand the impacts of climate change on the structural condition of bridges.
13.10.22 - 08h22The quantification of climate change is involved in great uncertainty. But should we "wait and see" until we understand everything about climate change? This is not a scientific option. Should we focus on major bridges such as Vasco da Gama and 25 de Abril? We have to keep in mind that small-scale bridges, those under municipal control, are generally less resilient and potentially more vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Thus, to understand the impacts of climate change on the structural condition of bridges and propose optimized adaptation strategies, this seminar brought together bridge engineering experts, academia, climatologists and national and local authorities.
This seminar was organized by Lusófona University, Oslo Metropolitan University, National Laboratory of Civil Engineering and Infrastructures of Portugal, within the scope of the ClimaBridge Project funded by EEA Grants.
