On April 24th, the Universidade Lusófona hosted the Round Table entitled "Amazonia: Sustainability, Innovation and Society", which brought together experts and students to discuss and propose solutions to contemporary environmental challenges that affect the Amazon region and the world, as well as the importance of global cooperation.

Professor Sabrina Medeiros, in her inaugural speech, highlighted the need for international cooperation in the face of political and environmental challenges in the Amazon, while a representative delegation from the Amazon Forest, made up of professionals from the areas of technology, mathematics and social sciences, brought a innovative and challenging perspective to traditional approaches.

The event was attended by several students from the Faculty of Applied Social and Economic Sciences (FACSEA) who highlighted the relevance of ethnic and national diversity for cooperation with Portuguese-speaking countries. Among the topics discussed, the role of the Amazon in the global context stood out, including its impact on European Union policies, and the need to strengthen dialogue with the global South, covering Africa and Latin America.

Participants also highlighted their commitment to youth and their active participation in international discussions, presenting scientific initiation projects on the regulation of autonomous weapons and human rights.

The event reflected Universidade Lusófona's commitment to promoting scientific knowledge and strengthening international cooperation, seeking innovative solutions to complex challenges like this.
