It can be seen generally that despite this progressive adoption of projects as strategic and current implementation practices, most of them fail or fall short of expectations. Project management has been gaining increasing weight in engineering-related activities. This course aims to provide students with knowledge and technical mastery of the main global standards and practices.

    Syllabus

    PMBoK Framework Standard with 47 processes divided into 5 groups and 10 knowledge areas. Each process has a set of inputs, tools and techniques and outputs. MS Project Software Tool for planning and controlling, at an enterprise level, in terms of scope, time and cost.     Objectives

    The course aims to provide students with knowledge of the main international references in Project Management. It is intended to make students aware of the importance of Project Management, and develop a set of skills related to the rigorous definition and control of the Scope, Time, Cost and Quality of projects. In addition, students will be able to train the use of Project Libre software, enabling them to apply theoretical support to practical situations. At the end of the course it is intended that students: Know and know how to handle the PMBoK conceptual model; Are able to use the project management software in accordance with the referenced standard; Be able to select, depending on the project, the processes, techniques and their level of detail; Apply Initiation, Planning and Control processes with average dexterity; Have basic knowledge about Agile Methods (Scrum).

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Active methods will be used for presentation, transmission, and interaction in class. The Active Method is an educational model in which students engage more directly in the learning process. Instead of merely receiving information, students are encouraged to participate actively, involving themselves in activities such as group discussions, problem-solving, practical projects, and experience-based learning. Additionally, the course will apply the concept of project-based learning, an educational approach that places students at the center of the learning process, allowing them to explore and apply concepts in real-world contexts. In this way, students work on realistic projects that require research, problem-solving, collaboration, and reflection.
