  • Objectives

    Objectives

LO1: Identify the object of study of Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience LO2: Establish the interplay between Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience and Clinical Neuropsychology and specify its relevance in the study of high-order brain functions; LO3: Understand high-order brain functions in light of perceptive, cognitive and affective processes LO4: Evaluate and recognize the relationship between nervous system, cognition, emotion and behaviour LO5: Use appropriately the acquired knowledge on the brain-behaviour system, to reflect on its impact in clinical case studies LO6: Recognize the importance of social cognition and its relationship with cognitive and affective processes in social behavior LO7: Understand the relationship between cognitive and affective processes in people's sexual response and sexual well-being. LO8: Explore practical applications of Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience for diagnosis and intervention in clinical Neuropsychology
  • Teaching methodologies and assessment

    Teaching methodologies and assessment

ME1 will allow an introduction to the object of study of Neuroscience, concerning its importance in the study of higher mental functions (perception, cognition, affective processing, social cognition, complex neural networks, brain-behavior integration). However, as this is a course with a practical component, the learning objectives will be promoted through interactive and dynamic teaching methodologies, with greater potential to promote active learning from students; namely: small group activities (ME2), bibliographical research (ME3), discussion of clinical cases considering alterations in the higher mental processes studied (ME4), feedback from teacher and peers (ME5), interactive dialogue (ME6). The practical component will thus allow the training of skills through the presentation and discussion of clinical cases with alterations in the studied mental functions, as well as the development of critical reasoning.
