This UC intends to deepen the knowledge of LLM students in the field of civil contracts, as well as improving their legal skills to act professionally in business law. It also intends to enable students to apply this knowledge in their legal professions and to be able to understand case law on problematic standard contract terms.

Syllabus
1. Practical relevance of standard contract terms and optimization of business 2. Reasons for legal regulation of standard contract terms; 3. Standard contract terms control mechanisms; 4. Inclusion control: problematic aspects; 5. Content control system; 6. Critical assessment of the general principle of content control; 7. Analysis of the legal catalog of prohibited terms; 8. Function and practical scope of the abstract control; 9. Analytical examination of the most frequent unfair contract terms in various types of contracts; 10.The transnational character of contemporary contract law: European private law and the articulation between the domestic legal system and European Union law; 11. Conclusion: the economic and social dimensions of contract.

Objectives
Objectives
The curriculum unit aims at providing in-depth knowledge of this field of law where the conflicts of interests between businesses and clients (B2C as well as B2B) is particularly relevant. Students are provided with a solid theoretical background and tutored on the practical application of the knowledge, in particular by analysing and debating relevant case law. It is intended that students are enabled to apply in their legal professions the skills acquired and to critically analyse case law related to problematic standard contract terms.
