E-NOSE project launch meeting in Novi Sad
European project with the collaboration of ULusófona develops state-of-the-art nanotechnology gas sensors for global security
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)

On 7th October, the launch meeting for the E-NOSE Project took place in Novi Sad, Serbia. This project, funded by the European Union (REA), is coordinated by the Faculty of Technology at the University of Novi Sad. The international consortium includes the Deep Tech Lab from the Universidade Lusófona, which contributes its expertise in nanotechnology.
The E-NOSE Project (Acquisition and Modification of Hierarchically Structured Nanostructured Active Oxides for Advanced Gas Biological Sensors) aims primarily to develop next-generation gas sensors. Utilising advanced nanotechnology, these devices, known as "Electronic Noses", are designed to be highly sensitive and rapid, capable of detecting a wide range of chemical compounds.
In addition to innovation in sensors, the project proposes a global safety system that integrates these devices into mobile communication platforms, enabling the localised detection of threats, such as epidemic outbreaks, fires, and terrorist activities.
The meeting was attended by various European and international partners, including research institutions, companies, and universities. Representatives from the Faculty of Technology in Novi Sad (Serbia), NanoTechCenter (Ukraine), Bandirma Onyedi Eylul University (Turkey), Nanomaterials Research & Development (Poland), DeepTechLab Association (Portugal), NanoPhoenix (Italy), the Institute of Material Science of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan (Uzbekistan), the Institute of Radiation Problems (Azerbaijan), and the Republican Scientific and Practical Centre for Sports Medicine (Uzbekistan) were present.
During the meeting, the conditions of partnership among the involved organisations were discussed, as well as essential networking events for the continuity of the project. This meeting was crucial for coordinating the activities of the partners and defining the tasks to be accomplished, with the aim of achieving significant milestones in research and planning the next steps of the project.
