The protection of marine life has become an urgent concern on the world stage, at the moment. as the oceans face a growing threat from pollution. Ocean pollution, caused essentially by the discharge of plastic waste, chemical products and atmospheric pollutants, has caused significant damage to marine ecosystems and the environment. biodiversity. This degradation not only affects aquatic life, but also directly harms human communities that depend on marine resources for subsistence and economy. Ocean conservation and the implementation of sustainable practices are crucial to reversing this scenario and ensuring the preservation of marine life for generations future. 

Gonçalo Calado, completed his Master's degree in Ecology, Management and Modeling of Marine Resources in 1997 from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa Faculty of Science and Technology, completed a Degree in Wildlife Resources; and Environment in 1994 from the University of Lisbon Faculty of Sciences and completed a PhD in Biology from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 2001.
