Master’s Degree in Exercise and Well-being
I am a visiting assistant lecturer here at Lusófona University and I completed my entire academic journey—actually, I’m currently finishing it here at Lusófona, about to complete my PhD.
I entered this fitness area, let’s call it that, through a vocational course, but I quickly felt the need to seek more knowledge. As I progressed through the academic path, I experienced a clear sense of continuity: during my undergraduate degree, I acquired the basic skills necessary to perform my professional duties more effectively. Then, entering the Master’s programme, I was able to significantly develop my scientific literacy.
Why Lusófona? Firstly, because of the specialised academic staff—especially when it comes to the Master’s Degree in Exercise and Well-being. Many of the teaching staff are national and international references, particularly in the field of behavioural change related to issues such as motivation, for example.
In terms of how the Master's programme is structured, it follows a logical approach by offering a few core modules focused on developing our scientific methodology, alongside various parallel topics.
And the way assessments are carried out in these curricular units is very much aimed at improving our ability to seek out the most recent research. We extract the main conclusions, and then we are genuinely able to apply those conclusions in practice. So essentially, it comes down to the highly specialised teaching staff and the overall organisation of the Master’s programme.
