
Phil Lopes Invited to Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Games
Top digital games research journal welcomes Lusófona University representative to its editorial board

It is with great pleasure that Universidade Lusófona announces that Phil Lopes, Assistant Professor in the Department of Cinema and Media Arts and Senior Researcher at the HEI Lab – Digital Human–Environment Interaction Lab, has recently been invited to join the panel of Associate Editors of the prestigious scientific journal IEEE Transactions on Games (ToG).
IEEE Transactions on Games is an internationally recognised, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to scientific, technical, and engineering research in the field of digital games. Indexed in both the Web of Science and Scopus databases, the journal currently holds an Impact Factor of approximately 2.3 (with a 5-Year IF of around 2.8) and an SJR of 0.626, underscoring its relevance in areas such as artificial intelligence in games, procedural content generation, and interactive media.
As an Associate Editor, Phil Lopes will be responsible for overseeing the peer-review process of submissions in his areas of expertise—namely player experience modelling, affective computing, experience-centred game design, procedural content generation, and immersive interaction in virtual and augmented reality contexts. Furthermore, he will contribute actively to the strategic editorial direction of the journal.

The HEI Lab – Human–Environment Interaction Laboratory – is an R&D unit funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) at Universidade Lusófona. It brings together psychology, computer science, and media studies to explore the frontiers of human–technology interaction.
