On 11 May, the coastal road between Perafita and Leça hosted a 7 km Solidarity Walk that brought together 290 participants in the name of solidarity. The initiative, which marked the 30th anniversary of the Food Bank - Porto, aimed primarily to collect food donations, recognise the work of partner organisations, and strengthen community spirit.
Organised in partnership with Lusófona University - Porto University Centre and supported by organisations such as Missão Continente and the La Caixa Foundation, the walk featured the commitment of final-year students from the undergraduate degree in Physical Education and Sport, as part of the Event Management curricular unit. Since January, students planned the event in collaboration with the Food Bank, working in teams responsible for logistics, communication, entertainment, permits, and partnerships.
The event began with registration and kit distribution at 9:00 am, followed by a warm-up session led by the students. After the seaside walk, participants were able to enjoy moments of relaxation with music, drinks, and socialising before returning to the starting point.
Registration was free of charge, with participants only being asked to donate food, which will now be distributed to families in need through the Food Bank’s network.
