What is Ethesis?
“Ethesis” is the new advanced training platform available on NETPA. Students enrolled in integrated master's degrees, master's degrees (2nd cycles) and doctorates (3rd cycles) will have access to advanced training for the submission of their dissertation, project work, internship report or thesis.
When can I start registering with Ethesis?
The student should only access the platform when the following conditions are met:
- They are enrolled in the curricular unit where they will submit their final course project1.
- Their financial account is up to date.
- They are eligible to select a supervisor.
- They are eligible to proceed with the initial registration of their project proposal2.
1. Dissertation/Project Work/Internship Report/Thesis.
2. In the case of theses, this initial registration must be entered in RENATES – National Register of Theses and Dissertations.
PHASE 1 – Process Initiation / Supervisor & Co-supervisor Selection / Initial Registration
Already have a supervisor and topic to register in e-Thesis? What to do:
- Log in to NETPA and go to Advanced Studies. Then access "Actions" and start the process.

How to request the addition of a co-supervisor in e-Thesis?
- The inclusion of a co-supervisor (if applicable) must be requested by email to the SATA (Administrative Technical Support Service), providing the following information: Full Name / Institution / Country / Qualification / Email.
- This request must always be approved by the supervisor.
- Note: For detailed information on the dissertation defence process, please consult the Pedagogical Regulations of Universidade Lusófona.
PHASE 2 – Submission of Provisional Version for Defence
How should a student proceed when submitting the provisional version for defence?
Log in to NETPA and go to Advanced Studies. Then access "Actions" and start the process.
- The student edits/updates the dissertation/thesis registration fields for submission;

The student uploads a PDF document (provisional version) using the following file naming format:
Master’s: D VP_student number_name.pdf | Doctorate: T VP_student number_name.pdf - The supervisor validates the project submission;
- Authorship and compliance declarations are automatically generated and must be signed and sent to the course office (SATAS);
- SATA internally requests the issuance of the submission fee;
- The student completes the payment;
- SATA validates the documentation and confirms payment.
PHASE 3 – Jury Proposal / Defence Scheduling / Grade Submission

The student can track the progress of the process via NETPA. After the defence, they will be requested to submit the Final Version for archiving. The file must be named as follows:
Master’s: D VD_student number_name.pdf | Doctorate: T VD_student number_name.pdf
