Tai Chi Chuan
In order to promote the well-being of our Universidade Lusófona community, Tai Chi Chuan classes have been held for Students / Staff and Faculty since November 2023. Tai Chi Chuan is a Chinese martial art classified under the soft styles or internal arts. Its movements are developed at a slow pace that distinguishes it from other martial arts. Besides the cadence, this discipline is characterised by circular movements that, in continuity, promote the circulation of Chi or energy, allowing the whole body to mobilise and project greater force in attack or defence. The practice of Tai Chi Chuan is considered a form of health prevention and maintenance, as it: 1. Lowers blood pressure; 2. Develops concentration and focus; 3. Stimulates the nervous and immune systems; 4. Strengthens muscles and joints; 5. Reduces stress and anxiety.

Using a strip of fabric (trapilho) and a hook, through trial and error, we will create something unique, handcrafted, and made by us. Come and try it out and learn the basics to create your own pieces. Its benefits include improved concentration, development of motor skills, and reduced stress.
