Admission Conditions
In accordance with the applicable regulations, access to the Master's degree program in Law is done through the submission of an application within the deadline set by the Director of the Law School. The following candidates are eligible to apply for the Master's degree program in Law: a) Holders of a Bachelor's degree in Law or its legal equivalent from a Portuguese or foreign university, provided they have a minimum grade of 12 or equivalent. Selection criteria: Previous qualification: 70% Curricular assessment: 20% Interview: 10% b) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree awarded following a first cycle of studies organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a country adhering to this process. Selection criteria: Previous qualification: 20% Curricular assessment: 50% Interview: 30% c) Holders of a Portuguese or foreign higher academic degree recognized by the Scientific Council as fulfilling the objectives of a Bachelor's degree in Law. Selection criteria: Previous qualification: 20% Curricular assessment: 50% Interview: 30% d) Individuals with an educational, scientific, or professional background recognized by the Scientific Council as demonstrating the capacity to undertake this course of study in Law. Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired
Providing teaching aimed at the deepening and specialization of the study of law, giving the master¿s students the necessary theoretical and practical skills should they be destined for one of the various legal careers, or an academic career. An element of a more professional content and two more of a more academic nature, which form the second cycle, ensure these objectives, stimulating in each of them a quest for research. The recourse in public exams for master¿s students and entrance exams in the legal professions, are the benchmarks. The main competences to develop are: the ability of heuristic analysis of texts and pieces of legislation, interpretation and ability to write parts of a legal nature, ability to articulate knowledge and specific information from the legal field and knowledge of other areas such as economic, ability to search and interpret information available in electronic databases, ability to present and submit information in oral, argumentative and rhetorical ability, formal powers of analysis and generalization of information, skills in working individually and in teams in the field research in law, particularly regarding the ability to collect and operational information from legal sources. The objectives defined in terms of training are operationalized through the constant updating and monitoring of teaching and learning, and the degree of performance measured in terms of rates of school success, qualitative assessment of faculty by students, evaluation of workload of research developed, particularly regarding publications and participation by students in scientific events, rate of search and evaluation of performance of students by teachers.
