Master in Exercise and Wellbeing The scientific method is humanity's greatest invention. In different areas, there is an exponential evolution, a result of the creativity and rigor that governs science. The field of Exercise and Wellness is no exception, making advanced training a necessity for anyone looking to base their practice on evidence. In this evidence-based practice, a careful and informed choice is made of the best exercise for the person in front of us. This decision-making requires continued investment in our training and scientific literacy. This is the principle that governs this Master's Degree: the development of scientific literacy, as a common language that is the basis of our evolution as exercise professionals, in the search to make society healthier and more sustainable.

Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired
Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired
This Degree comes with the goal of preparing future exercise professional for this task, based on the development of autonomous knowledge update, as well as of permanent critical analysis on its practices and the practices of those that surround them. The performance principle to be worked in this degree is founded on a professional practice based on evidence, mirroring the current trend in the area of health and well-being, which will allow an effective integration in multidisciplinary teams in clinical or gym contexts. For a greater training specificity, two specialisations were created: a) Exercise, Nutrition and Health, that looks at providing answers to work closer to the clinical context, or in strict connection with it, but in gym or health club contexts; and b) Fitness, that will allow for a training directed specifically to the professionals that are developing their activity (or intend to in the future) in gym and health club contexts. In a work market of great potential and expansion, where the demand for specialised training is greater and greater, the differentiation and success of a career will be strongly conditioned by the competences acquired in a university context.

The Master's Degree in Exercise and Well-being is part of CIDEFES (Research Center for Sport, Physical Education, Exercise and Health; cidefes.ulusofona.pt). Master's professors are researchers responsible for projects funded at national and international level. The average h-index value of our professors is 10 points, with several colleagues having excellent h-indexes in this area of ¿¿knowledge. Some examples of the projects we are involved in: - PACWoman (pacwoman.ulusofona.pt) - LusofonATIVA (lusofonativa.ulusofona.pt) - Move4Fun (http://cidefes.ulusofona.pt/move4fun-movement-gamification-for-motivating-physical-activity-and-fun/) Our research focuses on behavioral modification in exercise and health contexts. We study motivational and emotional variables that are linked to continued exercise practice. We also studied physical activity, sedentary and sleep behaviors, in the context of 24 h of movement. We have other lines of research that are constantly evolving and a clear connection with the Doctorate in Physical Education and Sport, in the area of ¿¿Physical Activity and Health, a path that some of our masters follow.
