Postgraduate Programme in Marketing and Brand Strategies

"My name is Ana, and I am a graphic designer.
I come from a very hands-on artistic education background and have several years of experience working in the field, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from the more academically oriented teaching at Lusófona University - Lisbon University Centre. After some contact with the field of marketing in a professional setting and feeling the need to better understand it, I decided to enrol in the Postgraduate Programme in Marketing and Brand Strategies, which seemed to offer the foundation I was looking for.

The course delivered exactly that — the beginning is very focused on the fundamentals and provides a solid introduction to the field, which was essential for someone like me who had limited previous exposure. It then narrows into areas relevant to the current market, presenting real-world solutions and the most effective paths to achieve tangible objectives across the various branches of the vast tree that is marketing.

The lecturers this year were mainly professionals actively working in the market, and it was extremely interesting to absorb knowledge that was adapted to real-world contexts — often illustrated with examples of what works, what doesn’t, and the real reasoning behind each decision. We also had the opportunity to attend two guest lectures: one on sustainable marketing and another from a highly established international company. These interactions greatly enriched the overall experience.

The postgraduate programme fully delivered on its promise and met the expectations I had for the time I chose to spend here. However, I would have appreciated more time for practical exercises, where we could make mistakes, correct them, and adapt to the mindset this field requires. I leave this experience certain that I will regularly apply what I’ve learned, which will enhance both my professional and personal projects.

Stepping out of your comfort zone is always worthwhile, especially for the opportunity to connect with people and realities completely different from your own — experiences that offer a new understanding of the world."
